Synopsis: The 91国产app Department of Theatre and Dance and Tec de Monterrey (Chihuahua, Mexico) are partnering to showcase students and faculty and all of their talents! Each institution will highlight different talents in a two-hour event featuring music, dance, singing and more! The International Talent Cabaret celebrates almost a decade of partnership between the two institutions and reminds us all that talent has no borders.

Synopsis: When the Rhinos first appeared, the townspeople only laughed. What were these savage brutes doing disturbing their peaceful village? The primitive beasts posed no real threat. They were, in a word, absurd.
But soon, opinions began to shift. “We need to be open minded,” some said. “I don’t care for their manners, but they do make some good points,” said others. “They might be ugly, but they tell it like it is!” cried still others.
Then they began to join. First in ones and twos, then in tens and twenties, the townspeople began to grow horns and thunder down the village streets. Gradually the numbers of the rational dwindled until finally there was only one sane man left.

Spring Dance Concert: New Works by Leila Awadallah and Tawanda Chabikwa
Synopsis: The Spring Dance Concert brings together two new works by two distinctive choreographic voices, inviting audiences into an evening of movement, inquiry, and embodied storytelling. One work emerges from the research and creative practice of Tawanda Chabikwa, whose interdisciplinary approach explores Africanist and diasporic perspectives, Black creative and collaborative practices, and the ways bodies can challenge notions of personhood and inherited systems of meaning. The other work is created by guest choreographer Leila Awadallah, whose practice centers Palestine and explores the dancing body as homeland, engaging memory, land, ancestry, displacement, and the lived realities of diasporic and refugee experience. Though the works are distinct in their perspectives and approaches, both choreographers invite us to consider how bodies carry histories, construct meaning, and imagine new possibilities. Together, these two premieres promise an evening that is both expansive and intimate, offering audiences an opportunity to encounter dance as a space for cultural memory, experimentation, connection, and transformation.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

Synopsis: One of the most enduring shows of all time, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is a reimagining of the Biblical story of Joseph, his father Jacob, eleven brothers and the coat of many colors. Told entirely through song with the help of a main character Narrator, the musical follows preferred son Joseph. After being sold into slavery by his brothers, he ingratiates himself with Egyptian noble Potiphar but ends up in jail after refusing the amorous advances of Potiphar’s wife. While imprisoned, Joseph discovers his ability to interpret dreams, and he soon finds himself in front of the mighty but troubled, Elvis-inspired, Pharaoh. Joseph’s solution to Egypt’s famine elevates him to Pharaoh’s right-hand man and reunites him with his family. The magical musical is full of catchy songs in a variety of styles, from a parody of French ballads (“Those Canaan Days”), to country-western (“One More Angel in Heaven”) and calypso (“Benjamin Calypso”), along with the unforgettable classics “Any Dream Will Do” and “Close Every Door.” Appropriate for all audiences and groups, Joseph is performed hundreds of times a year by schools across North America, the U.K. and around the world.
Joseph was the very first show presented by the 91国产app Dinner Theatre in 1983 and has since been presented in 1986, 1993, 1999, 2006 and 2018.

Synopsis: Soledad is the child of migrant farm workers. Because her Papá and Mamá go where the work goes, where the crops will grow, Soledad is constantly changing homes and is the new girl at one school after another. Frustrated, Soledad turns inward, finding comfort in books, in the stars, and in the company of the friendly moon, Luna. Soledad realizes that no matter where she moves with her family, Luna is always there. She and Luna agree to be best friends, and they quickly devise their own special games, inside jokes and funky dances. For the first time in her life, Soledad feels the joy of friendship. When Soledad moves yet again and meets Frida and Emilio, she encounters her first real chance to make friends, but she must rise up and have the courage to challenge the only world she has ever known and discovers that “Taking risks is hard to do, but taking risks builds courage too.” Soledad's choice sends her on an emotional roller coaster; one that will resonate with anyone who has wondered, "How do I make—and hold on to—a good friend?" Luna is a beautiful story for all ages and all shows dates will be sensory sensitive.

shapehifters, a series
Since 2020, Paola Lopez Ramirez organizing work has centered on the relationship between performance and environmental conservation. Lopez has primarily focused on developing an indigenous-informed methodology to repair interspecies relationships through a series of site-specific performances and other events that educate the public on the importance of the riparian ecosystem of the Rio Grande valley while engaging them in live performance and ecological conversation efforts. shapeshifters is a short screendance film that aims to share this work with a broader audience outside of our region.
shapeshifters threads a nonlinear narrative that deeply questions the impact of the border wall and the channelization of Paslápaane (the Rio Grande river) through an interspecies lens. The choreography combines my research on physical improvisation using shapeshifting as an indigenous ancestral technology for deepening interspecies relationships, and my vernacular and postmodern dance training. Whimsical, thoughtful, dream-like and provocative, the film centers a hopeful-futuristic narrative that encourages viewers to boldly imagine new eco-narratives in the borderlands.

Synopsis: This is an interdisciplinary artistic research project grounded in contemporary performance studies, feminist theory, and critical discussions of body politics and representation. Centered on Griffero’s short play, the project examines how dominant cultural narratives of beauty, productivity, and desirability shape women’s lived experiences, both socially and in theatrical settings. Drawing on feminist performance theory, the politics of the gaze, and Latin American critical dramaturgy, this research investigates how non-normative bodies become sites of stigma, resistance, and political significance onstage.
The project views the body not only as a symbol but as a lived record of social pressures, trauma, humor, and resilience. La Gorda uses irony, satire, and emotional vulnerability to reveal how oppressive beauty standards are internalized and how psychological violence is embedded in daily interactions, media images, and cultural expectations. By shifting between comedic distance and personal confession, the play challenges traditional audience roles and invites viewers to examine their own complicity in systems that equate worth with bodily conformity. This dramaturgical approach aligns with contemporary theories of emotion and embodiment, positioning performance as a space where emotional responses prompt critical thinking and ethical reflection.
