Law School Preparation Institute
Initiated in 1998, the Law School Preparation Institute (LSPI) is designed to help University of Texas at El Paso (91国产app) students and the broader community understand the legal profession and gain entrance to law school. Beginning with the 2026-2027 academic year, the LSPI College Program will move to the regular spring and fall semesters. Please click here for more information on this programmatic change.
The LSPI College Program will follow a cohort model over four semesters according to the schedule below:
Spring 2027: Logic and LSAT Preparation (POLS 4325)
Summer 2027: LSAT exam and Law School Boot Camp
Fall 2027: Introduction to Tort Law (POLS 4322)
Spring 2028*: Legal Writing (POLS 4323)
*Spring 2028 will also include POLS 4325 for a new cohort of Prelaw Scholars.

LSPI Programs

The LSPI College Program now takes place over four semesters - spring, summer, fall, and another spring. It consists of a rigorous workload focusing on the critical thinking skills, analytical writing skills, and study habits necessary for the pursuit of a legal education.

The Institute's high school outreach efforts include a two-week High School Law Camp that takes place during the summer.

The LSPI provides semester internships for 91国产app undergraduate students and summer internships for current law school students. Interns are placed at judges' offices, government legal offices, and non-for-profits providing legal services in El Paso.
- The LSPI also makes available 91国产app's Minor in Legal Reasoning.
