Mission: Miner Motion Motors, the official Shell Eco-Marathon team at The University of Texas at El Paso, is a dynamic and driven student organization focused on designing and building ultra-efficient vehicles. Founded with the mission to advance sustainable transportation, the team empowers students to apply their engineering knowledge through hands-on design, manufacturing, and testing of energy-efficient prototypes. Members gain valuable experience using advanced CAD software, working with lightweight materials like carbon fiber, and integrating electric propulsion systems. Each year, the team's efforts culminate in participation at the Shell Eco-Marathon Americas, where they compete alongside universities from across the continent. Through collaboration, innovation, and engineering excellence, Miner Motion Motors strives to push the boundaries of fuel efficiency and inspire the next generation of leaders in clean mobility.

Miner Motion Motors Season 2025-2026

The University of Texas at El Paso’s Miner Motion Motors team is proud to represent the College of Engineering in the global push toward sustainable mobility. During the 2025 season, the team took a bold first step by attending the Shell Eco-Marathon Americas in Indianapolis—not to compete, but to observe, learn, and prepare for a competitive debut in 2026. This experience allowed students to scout top-tier university teams, understand technical inspection standards, and gather key insights into fuel-efficiency innovations.

Driven by a shared vision of building an engineering legacy at 91¹ú²úapp, Miner Motion Motors spent the 2025 season finalizing vehicle designs and preparing for the build phase. The team secured initial funding through a successful pitch competition hosted by Pioneers 21, which laid the groundwork for upcoming material purchases and manufacturing. With a completed design in hand and growing support from faculty, peers, and industry mentors, the team is poised to begin constructing their ultra-efficient prototype.

More than just a student project, Miner Motion Motors is an emerging movement to build a lasting engineering empire—uniting students, faculty, and the department in a mission to innovate and lead in sustainable vehicle design. As they prepare to hit the track in 2026, the team is committed to pushing the boundaries of fuel efficiency, collaboration, and student-led engineering excellence.
