Recent Birds at Rio Bosque
The irrigation season ended 15 Aug. Now, our only water sources are treated water from the Roberto Bustamante Wastewater Treatment Plant and groundwater from one of our two onsite wells. Our other well is down for maintenance. We hope to see it back in action soon.
On 18 Aug, an adult Yellow-crowned Night Heron was along the old river channel downstream of the Wetland Trailhead.
The park's pair of White-tailed Kites was seen most recently 2 September.
Burrowing Owls nested this year at 3 different burrow sites within the park.
Northern Cardinals are present in small numbers.
