Mario S. Aguilar is the Principal and Founder of The Pensery, a design studio built on curiosity and the pursuit of clear, resonant storytelling. Born in El Paso, Texas, Aguilar has lived and worked around the world, from the beaches of Hawaii to the sunflower fields of Germany and the design scene of New York City. Each place has shaped his understanding of culture and design, reinforcing his belief that creativity thrives at the intersections of diverse experiences. 

Before launching The Pensery, Aguilar was a Partner at Bernhardt Fudyma Design Group in New York, where he led creative projects for major global clients, including American Express, Wiley & Sons Publishing, and the Associated Press. His leadership helped these brands find fresh, modern voices that connected with audiences across platforms. 

The Pensery continues that mission. Under Aguilar’s direction, the studio creates work that captures brand essence, communicates with clarity, and delivers memorable impact across media. His work has been recognized by organizations such as AIGA, Communication Arts, Graphic Design USA, Graphis, and the American Advertising Federation. Even the studio’s name reflects Aguilar’s roots: “Pensery” comes from the Spanish word pensar—to think. For Aguilar, design begins with thoughtfulness and curiosity, always asking how visuals can connect with people in meaningful ways.
