Hunt Business Hosts Financial Literacy Day for Jefferson High School Students
The Big Picture
The Department of Economics and Finance at the Woody L. Hunt College of Business hosted 55 students from Jefferson High School for Financial Literacy Day on Friday, April 24, 2026.
The visit introduced students to core finance and economics concepts while giving them a closer look at Hunt Business, career pathways, and majors.
Why It Matters
Financial literacy is most powerful when students encounter it early.
The program gave Jefferson students practical exposure to Finance 101 and Economics 101 — from everyday decision-making to long-term planning.
Inside the Experience
Students explored foundational concepts in finance and economics through sessions designed to make business education more accessible and relevant.
The Hunt College Professional Development team also shared how business students build experience outside the classroom through Corporate Academies, student organizations, case competitions and other high-impact opportunities.
The Bigger Picture
This is the second year the Department of Economics and Finance has hosted Financial Literacy Day with Jefferson High School.
For Hunt Business, the event reflects a growing commitment to K–12 outreach, financial education and early exposure to college pathways.
The Takeaway
Financial Literacy Day gave students more than a campus visit.
It connected classroom concepts to real life, introduced students to the value of business education and showed how Hunt Business helps students build confidence, experience and opportunity.
